Profile

Professor Russel Cooper is a Visiting Professorial Research Fellow at Macquarie University and Director of Chi-Research Pty. Ltd. 

Professor Cooper previously held the position of Professor of Economics at the University of Western Sydney. Earlier in his career he held positions at the Reserve Bank of Australia, Monash University and Macquarie University. 

He has published in Econometrica, International Economic Review, Review of Economics and Statistics, Macroeconomic Dynamics, Canadian Journal of Economics, Economics Letters, Australian Economic Papers, Economic Record and Australian Journal of Regional Studies.

Professor Cooper's research interests include intertemporal optimization models in economics, duality theory and applications in economics, new growth economics, inter industry modelling, applications of rational economic modelling in specific industries, applied consumer demand studies and spatial economics. Current research projects include estimation of cost functions, investment decisions of high-technology firms, investigation of network externalities in the info-communications sector, forecasting with short time series, and the economic modelling of technology transfer across the digital divide.
