Sue commenced in academia in 1985 following several years with the Reserve Bank of Australia, where she worked in policy areas related to bank supervision and reporting. Her PhD examined the comparative information content of accounting and share price for Australian banks 1960 – 1990.

Her teaching and research interests have moved from finance and capital markets to business valuation and analysis and corporate governance. She has publications and working papers in these areas, and supervises a number of students working in a range of areas related to her expertise.

Sue’s teaching experience has been in introductory accounting and finance, and financial statement analysis. She has published papers, research projects, and textbooks in these areas, several of which have been supported by research grants.

Sue has been a director of AFAANZ, the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand, since 2005, and is currently its Treasurer. She has extensive administrative experience, including on the organising committee for two international conferences, in senior positions in the department, and on Academic Senate.  She received an award for Outstanding Service to the University in 2007.
