Assessment Submission and Return
Please follow the instructions given in lectures about the submission and return of assessments. Arrangements can vary from unit to unit, and not all assessments are submitted at or returned by BESS.
Submitting assessments
If your unit has a specific coversheet – use it otherwise fill in the generic Faculty of Business and Economics coversheet for an individual assignment or the Faculty of Business and Economics coversheet for group assessments as required. Once you have completed the form online, print it out double sided and attach it to your assessment.
All assessments submitted to BESS must have a coversheet attached.
During opening hours, assessments can be submitted in the assessment boxes outside BESS. Check the box labels for the relevant unit codes and assessment name. In very large classes there are sometimes several boxes, so read the labels carefully to ensure your assessment is placed in the correct box.
As well, please make sure your assessment is complete as it is our policy NOT to return assessments for changes or additions once they have been submitted. If you have further work to submit or a change to the assessment you may submit a new assessment (or an addendum) with a note explaining the additional work to the lecturer in charge of the unit. If you do resubmit an assessment or add an addendum, you are strongly advised to let the Lecturer in Charge know via email.
After hours, assessments can be submitted via the secure ‘overnight box’ by the BESS door. A Peer Adviser will collect these assessments prior to BESS opening on the next working day. Each assessment will be logged, date and time stamped. The date will be the next working day after submission and the time will be ‘O/N’ - standing for Overnight
All late and early (ie prior to a box being opened) assessments submitted at BESS are registered in a log book, and date and time stamped. If you submit a late or early assessment during opening hours please see a Peer Adviser to complete the log book. Please note: BESS does not encourage the submission of early assessments but will take them in special circumstances.
Collecting marked assessments
When collecting a marked assessment, please have your Student ID card ready and tell us the unit code and assessment name (eg Assignment 1). With very large classes we may need to know the name of your tutor as well.
A group assessment will be returned to the first group member who comes to collect it. It is up to group members to make arrangements to inform each other of the result and share the returned assessment. As well, please be ready to tell us your group number or name (if used) when you come to pick up the assessment.
You can only collect an assessment on behalf of a student if the student has provided you with a completed Faculty of Business and Economics Assessment Collection Proxy Form. Proxies must bring photo ID with them.
Feedback, suggestions and complaints
Your feedback and suggestions are ALWAYS welcome – on any matter related to the Faculty of Business and Economics. We will try to respond to any reasonable suggestions or pass them on to the relevant person for comment.
Please feel free to talk to us, email us or, if you prefer, put an anonymous suggestion in the Suggestion Box at the front of BESS.
If you have any problems, concerns or complaints please talk to a peer adviser or the BESS Supervisor - Ms Julie Monteban.
